The Why Behind
Be Hewman

Teenage Students Raising Hands

During the last week of that first school year, one of my students, Jyeisha, said something

I’ll never forget.

What I Teach

When we’re not okay emotionally, even our biggest dreams

feel out of reach — or they don’t fulfill us when we get there.

So why, even with all the research in psychology and education,

are we not preparing young people for the real tests of adulthood?

That’s why I started Be Hewman — a place where adults can learn

what really matters.

I’ve developed powerful, practical lessons to help people build the life skills they should’ve learned in school: how to manage stress, build relationships, create balance, and pursue a meaningful life with confidence.

I believe every young person has the potential to thrive

not just professionally, but personally.

My job is to help them see it, feel it, and live it.

The First Lesson

When I stepped into my first classroom at 22, I had no idea what I was doing. Every day, I panicked. I wasn’t just unprepared professionally — I was lost personally. I didn’t know how to communicate, advocate for myself, set boundaries, or manage my finances.

I had no sense of balance, confidence, or direction.

Looking back, that first year of teaching was one of the most transformative years of my life.

I was growing up while trying to help others grow

learning life’s lessons one painful test at a time.

Class is in session.

Are you ready?

Let's start your journey.

A Moment That Sparked a Mission

That single moment became the seed for Be Hewman.

Over the next 17 years, I taught hundreds of students, coached educators, supported parents, and mentored young adults.

But more than anything, I kept learning — about mental health, emotional growth, healthy relationships, identity, purpose, and resilience.

If I’ve learned one thing, it’s this:

If your heart’s not right, your head won’t be either.
